Inauguration Week will celebrate the installation of Darryll J. Pines as UMD's 34th president, with a special focus on the university's collective, transformative future, with events that will feature students, faculty and staff who propel the institution to excellence in all we do.

Brodie Remington, vice president for university relations, sent the following email to the campus community today:

One year ago today, the university announced that Darryll J. Pines would become the University of Maryland's 34th president. Since then, President Pines has outlined—and made significant progress toward—a bold vision for the future of our university. He has charged us to promote excellence in all that we do, create an inclusive and multicultural campus environment, and confront the grand challenges of our time. On this momentous anniversary, I am honored to announce our plans for the official inauguration of President Pines.

During Inauguration Week, April 19-24, 2021, we will celebrate President Pines with a special focus on our collective, transformative future at the University of Maryland. Through virtual events and discussions, we will feature the students, faculty and staff who emanate excellence and propel our university forward, and officially install Dr. Pines as our president:
