Offers of Admission Via Zoom Surprise 5 High School Seniors
Opening that letter offering admission to the University of Maryland is a heart-pounding moment all on its own. Now amp that up with a personal, high-energy welcome to the Terp community.
Five outstanding high school seniors from Maryland, Florida and Illinois got a Saturday morning surprise from the university’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, whose leadership contacted them by Zoom to announce that they’d been admitted to UMD.
The popular #NowATerp tour typically has admissions officials, Mighty Sound of Maryland Marching Band members, cheerleaders and others descend on admitted students’ homes. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it took a socially distanced approach this year.
Watch this video to see Director of Undergraduate Admissions James B. Massey Jr. deliver the good news to Danasia Morton, Jayce Baek, Hope Schroeder, Ashton Fields and Bryce Stephens and their families.
