From discoveries in the lab to new insights in historical scholarship, the accomplishments of UMD's top undergraduate researchers are being honored by the university.

Each year, the Maryland Center for Undergraduate Research honors the achievements of some of Maryland’s top undergraduate researchers. This year, seven students will receive $1,000 awards in celebration of their substantial accomplishments and intellectual passion.

They published work in respected academic and scientific journals, traveled the world during their four years at UMD to research topics of global importance, conducted deep-dive scholarship into cultural movements, helped pioneer new technologies, and as a group, strived to make the world a better place.

Meet the 2020-21 undergraduate researchers of the year.
