With Terp fans unable to attend games at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium this season due to COVID-19, Maryland Athletics is launching a new interactive pregame show.
The Terps Tailgate Show will debut at 6:10 p.m. Friday ahead of UMD’s Homecoming game against Minnesota. Hosted by local sports personalities Rob Carlin ’95 and Chick Hernandez and broadcast live from Capital One Field, the show will be available on the new One Maryland app, umterps.com, the Maryland Terrapins Facebook page, @umterps on Twitter and Maryland Athletics’ YouTube page.
Carlin, a 1995 Maryland graduate, most recently worked for NBC Sports Washington as host of the Washington Capitals pre- and postgame shows. Hernandez, who attended Maryland from 1983-87, is an Emmy Award-winning sports anchor who also spent many years at NBC Sports Washington and now broadcasts golf on PGA Tour Radio on Sirius XM.
Running until kickoff, the new show will feature segments with Head Coach Michael Locksley and Athletic Director Damon Evans, as well as the pregame videoboard show, intro video and team entrance that fans will not be able to view anywhere else this season. It will also include interactive games and trivia, with fans able to participate from home using the One Maryland app for an opportunity to win Terps apparel.
To celebrate Homecoming, the debut show will also feature messages from UMD football alums and the announcement of the 2020 Spirit of Maryland Award recipients.
