Convocation to Celebrate 21 Outstanding Faculty, Staff Members. Meet Them All Here.

UMD will honor 21 of its outstanding faculty and staff at the 36th annual Convocation today.

The University of Maryland’s 36th annual Convocation today will honor 21 faculty and staff for their contributions to education, research and the campus community.

Linda Clement, who retired as vice president for student affairs this summer and served more than four decades at UMD, will receive the President’s Medal, which recognizes extraordinary contributions to the intellectual, social and cultural life of Maryland.

YuHuang Wang, a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, will receive the Kirwan Faculty Research and Scholarship Prize for innovations such as a textile that adjusts to its wearer’s temperature. Scott Roberts, director of institutional excellence and innovation in the Teaching and Learning Transformation Center and senior lecturer of psychology, will receive the Kirwan Undergraduate Education Award.
