In honor of tomorrow’s National Pet Day, we’re showcasing some Instagram accounts of Terp pets.

We tend to think of campus as a place to study, to teach, to work each day—but is it?

Not for the four-legged denizens of the University of Maryland. To them, all the rushing to class, the fevered academic inquiries—the Fearless Ideas, even—are just a backdrop for a frenzied dash across a snowy McKeldin Mall, a dive into the ODK Fountain or the proud display of a jaunty new bandana.

Tomorrow is National Pet Day, celebrated annually on April 11 across social media. It was established in 2006 to highlight pets’ impact on our lives, raise awareness for shelters and promote adoption.

In honor of that, we’re showcasing some Instagram accounts of Terp pets that bring joy to their owners among students, alumni, faculty and staff—and their social media followers. (@corgimacchiato has 17,700!)

Have a photogenic Terp pet? Use #UMDpets and #NationalPetDay and we might share your pics on the @univofmaryland Instagram account.
