UMD maintained its top-25 ranking among public universities on U.S News & World Report’s 2019 Best Colleges lists released today.
In the rankings, which are popular among students and parents during the college admission process, the University of Maryland kept its 2018 ranking of No. 22 among public schools, and fell two notches in the list of national universities, from 61 to 63.
The Robert H. Smith School of Business remained at No. 21, while the A. James Clark School of Engineering nudged up one place, to No. 24.
Maryland was also named No. 33 among Best Schools for Veterans.
The college rankings focus on academic excellence and measure schools on 16 indicators, including assessment of excellence, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance and alumni giving. The magazine also creates rankings in specialized categories, such as innovation and veteran support and for engineering and business schools.
