The University of Maryland continues to rank among the top public schools in the nation, according to new ratings released today by U.S. News & World Report.
UMD came in at No. 20 on that list, tied with the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Washington, and placed No. 59 among national universities in the 2022 Best Colleges edition of the influential rankings.
The lists, which many prospective students rely on to narrow their college searches, are based on factors including graduation and retention rates, social mobility, faculty and financial resources, and alumni giving rate.
U.S. News also examines several academic fields and undergraduate programs in its rankings, with UMD receiving high marks in the following categories:
Engineering
Computer Science
Business
UMD also earned recognition for its robust living-learning communities, tying for No. 13 nationally, and ranked No. 29 among the best colleges for veterans.
