Stamp, Libraries, RecWell Facilities Closed; Shuttle-UM Service Suspended

Campus Pantry, Counseling Center, More Services Adjust Operations in Face of COVID-19 Threat

Shuttle-UM suspended operations and other units closed or restricted their hours as UMD works to prevent the spread of the global outbreak of COVID-19.

The Adele H. Stamp Student Union, University Libraries and campus gyms shut down today, Shuttle-UM suspended operations and other units restricted their hours as the university works to prevent the spread of the global outbreak of COVID-19.

Dining Services will provide meals to students living on campus, starting on Sunday. But rather than eat in the South Campus Dining Hall, they will pick up their meals there for carryout. The Campus Pantry is also open to any campus community members in need.

Here’s the full roundup of new hours of operation while the students remain on Spring Break and beyond:

Adele H. Stamp Student Union

  • Offices, including the Student Involvement Suite, are online through March 29.
  • Staff can be reached via phone or online during business hours 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. weekdays
  • To reach Student Organization Resource Center staff, call 301-314-7158 or email sorc@umd.edu .
  • All Stamp-hosted events are canceled through April 10.

Dining Services
Spring Break:

  • South Commons Shop: 7:45 a.m.-4 p.m. today through Friday
  • Campus Pantry: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday

Starting Sunday, March 22:
The South Campus Dining Hall will be open, with carryout service only.

  • Brunch: 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. daily, except for Sunday, March 22
  • Dinner: 4:30-6:30 p.m. daily

The South Commons Shop will be open

  • 8 a.m.-8 p.m. weekdays
  • Noon-8 p.m. weekends

The Campus Pantry will be open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday and Friday.

Health Center

  • Starting today, the University Health Center offers limited services and is seeing patients only by scheduled appointments.
  • Walk-in appointments will not be taken, and online scheduling has been suspended.
  • Appointments can be made by calling 301.314.8184.

Libraries

  • All UMD Libraries are closed today through March 29.
  • A listing of available online resources is here.

RecWell

  • The Eppley Recreation Center, Natatorium, member service desk, University Golf Course and Reckord Armory gym are closed this week until further notice. Ritchie Coliseum will remain open from 2­­-4 p.m. weekdays for employee use, such as showering before returning home.
  • All RecWell programs including group fitness classes, intramural sports activities, Adventure Program trips and clinics, club sport practices and events, and swim and tennis lessons are canceled.

Resident Life

  • Residence halls are rescheduled to reopen at 10 a.m. April 12. Card access has been deactivated for all residents other than those approved to stay during the break.
  • Administrative office functions have been consolidated to Annapolis Hall. Staff are available via phone, email and on site. To support social distancing practices, call 301.314.7343 or email reslife@umd.edu before visiting Annapolis Hall.

Transportation Services

  • The Department of Transportation Services office is closed until further notice. Staff are available by phone 8:15 a.m.- 4:15 p.m. weekdays at 301-314-3687 and email at transportation@umd.edu .
  • Shuttle-UM service is suspended until further notice. This includes the 109 River Road route.
  • All parking lots that begin with a number and visitor parking areas are free.

Research operations at the university are transitioning to new restrictions, prioritizing activities that can be done remotely, in the interest of safety.
