A nerdy flower shop worker, urban blight and a bloodthirsty Venus flytrap collide in the cult sci-fi musical “Little Shop of Horrors,” opening at The Clarice tonight and running through Oct. 12.

Based on a 1960 movie, the musical parodies the camp-filled horror films of the 1950s and 60s with a gleefully witty Motown/pop-rock score from the creative team behind “Aladdin,” “Beauty and the Beast” and more.

The School of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies' incarnation will be led by Ron Himes, a guest director from the St. Louis Black Rep. He says the show isn’t just about a flesh-craving plant: it’s about love.

Take a sneak peek at the bouffants, leather jackets and carnivorous vegetation in the photo gallery below.
