Expert Challenges Assumptions of Cross-Racial Interaction on Campus, Stresses Importance of Diversity

Last month, the University of Maryland College of Education and Dean Jennifer King Rice presented their inaugural Terrapin EdTalks event in celebration of 100 years of leadership in education. This centennial celebration, held at The Clarice, featured five faculty talks that highlight how the college is paving the way to advance equity in Maryland and beyond.

Julie J. Park in her talk, “Race on Campus: Debunking Myths With Data,” challenged assumptions around racial self-segregation on college campuses and discussed the problems of cognitive bias on the topic of racial diversity.
