Women’s Golf Team Earns NCAA Regionals Bid

By Maryland Today Staff

The Maryland women's golf team is heading to the NCAA Auburn Regional, its sixth all-time team bid to the NCAA tournament and its first since 2012.

The Terps received a No. 13 seed in the Auburn region and will be playing at the Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Ala. The regional tournament May 6–8 will determine which teams advance to the championship field.

The national championships will be held May 17–22, hosted by the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

This will be the first trip to regionals for Head Coach Diana Cantu, now in her fifth year at Maryland.

"It was emotional seeing our name up there on the screen," she said. “Our rankings have improved over 80 spots since my first year at Maryland. This is just a lot of hard work and dedication and wanting to represent our school as best as we can, and I am just really happy for them."

Last time out, Terps finished eighth of 14 in the Big Ten Championships.
