Voluntary Registry of Close Contacts, Personal COVID-19 Dashboard Launch

By Maryland Today Staff

Jeff Hollingsworth, vice president for information technology and chief information officer, sent the following email to the campus community today:

We are all adapting to learn and work during the COVID-19 pandemic while striving to keep our community safe and healthy. Today I am pleased to announce new ways that technologies developed by the Division of IT, in consultation with the University Health Center, can help us all stay healthy.

Voluntary Registry of Close Contacts
Based on similar systems at other universities and requests from student leaders, we have developed a voluntary way for students, faculty, staff and affiliates to provide the names and contact information for UMD community members they frequently interact with. This platform is designed to aid in early contact identification should someone test positive for COVID-19. Close contacts are individuals who you interact with regularly in-person while working, studying, or in residence on campus or in the Greater College Park community. This system is optional and not required. Identify up to five close contacts at return.umd.edu/covid/closeContacts.

Personal COVID-19 Dashboard
We know that there are many required activities to prioritize safety in the UMD community. To help us all meet our obligations, I am pleased to announce a personal dashboard that will confirm your status in meeting COVID-19 return-to-campus requirements. On your personal dashboard you can view and confirm whether you have reported recent COVID-19 test results, watched the mandatory training video and completed the daily symptom checklist for each of the past 14 days. Don't forget to complete the checklist every day, even if you are not coming to campus that day, if you plan to be on campus within the next 14 days. We have learned that many people were unaware of the requirement to complete the symptom checklist even on days they didn't visit campus. As a result, if you were symptom-free, but did not complete the checklist between Aug. 22 and Sept. 3 on days you were not on campus, you may still come to campus if you meet the other requirements.

Personalize Reminder Notices
Faculty and staff have been receiving weekday email reminders about symptom checks. Students began receiving these email reminders this morning. We have also created a way to allow members of the community to indicate if they visit campus on the weekends and would like daily reminders seven days a week rather than just Monday through Friday to complete the symptom checklist. This page also allows those who will be remaining outside the greater College Park area to opt out of daily reminders. Customize your daily emails reminders at return.umd.edu/covid/subscription.

Campus Dashboard
Please continue visiting the campus COVID-19 Dashboard, which provides the UMD community with transparent and timely data about positivity rates and more on our campus.

Thank you for doing your part to help Terrapins keep each other safe and healthy. Please continue to visit umd.edu/4maryland for updates on health and safety.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey K. Hollingsworth
Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer
