University Senate Seeks Committee Volunteers

By Maryland Today Staff

The University Senate invites active faculty and staff and currently enrolled students to join one of its committees for the 2023-24 academic year.

Senate committees provide opportunities for the campus community to contribute to the university's shared governance and decision-making process. Committees are charged with reviewing, recommending revisions and proposing new policies that contribute to the university's mission and principles.

As part of one of the largest and most influential governing bodies on campus, volunteers contribute to the university’s shared governance policy development process, expand their campus network, and effect real change in important pieces of university policy. Members of the campus community do not need to be senators to serve on a committee.

To learn more information and volunteer for a committee, submit the application on the Senate website. The application deadline is April 30. Selected volunteers who receive a committee assignment will be notified over the summer.

Contact the Senate Office at senate-admin@umd.edu for questions or assistance accessing the application.
