The University of Maryland won a 2022 Planner’s Choice Award as Best Venue for Youth Retreats and Camps in the annual awards sponsored by the marketing and membership organization Unique Venues.
The awards recognize campuses, conference and business centers, sports arenas, historical and cultural venues, camps and retreat centers, and other special event venues that made a lasting impression on guests. More than 20,000 meeting planners voted in a total of 15 categories.
UMD offers camps and youth groups resources like its state-of-the-art field hockey turf facility, rock climbing wall and ropes challenge course, as well as dining halls and 8,000 beds. Academic programming and a location that allows for easy trips to Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Annapolis are also draws.
This is the fifth award in seven years for UMD in this category, and the 14th Unique Venues Award overall for UMD’s Conferences and Visitor Services department.
