UMD Alerts sent the following message to the campus community today:
As a member of the UMD community, you will now automatically receive UMD Text Alerts. The University of Maryland will send out a UMD Text Alert when a significant emergency or a dangerous situation is occurring on or near campus that poses an immediate threat to health or safety. You will be advised of severe weather and significant power outages or campus closures.
The UMD Text Alerts System, issued by the University of Maryland Police Department, is your personal connection to real-time updates, instructions on where to go and what you need to do, as well as other important information.
We highly encourage you to stay subscribed. However, if you wish to opt-out from receiving text messages from the UMD Alerts System, please visit alert.umd.edu and log in using your University ID to adjust your preferences.
Maryland Today is produced by the Office of Marketing and Communications for the University of Maryland community on weekdays during the academic year, except for university holidays.
