UMD Seeks Proposals for Second Round of Research Resilience Funding

The University of Maryland is expanding its investment in research excellence with a second round of Research Resilience Initiative funding to support at-risk faculty, junior scholars and the sustainability of our research enterprise.

Earlier this year, UMD announced the results of the initial round of the awards to address the rapidly evolving federal funding environment, which invested a total of $5.25 million in 82 projects spanning more than 30 disciplines across campus.

Building on that momentum, the university is launching a second round of funding through four programs focused on preserving strategic institutional priorities, supporting researchers facing disruptions and strengthening the pipeline of future scholars.

The Preserve, Pivot, and Grow Program will invest $3 million to preserve strategic institutional investments, support researchers who choose to pivot their current portfolio, and continue to grow the university’s research enterprise.

UMD is also expanding support for junior tenure-track faculty and doctoral candidates through the MPower Early Scholars Investment Fund. Through this initiative, MPowering the State will invest a total of $1.25 million per year for three years to sustain the scholar pipeline and protect the joint UMD-UMB research enterprise.

Faculty and students interested in these funding opportunities should visit the Research Resilience Initiatives website for full details on available programs, eligibility requirements, submission instructions and application deadlines.
