Terps and members of the Greater College Park community are invited to roll up their sleeves and put on their work gloves for Good Neighbor Day on Oct. 26.
The annual service event from 8:30 a.m. to noon brings together UMD students, staff, faculty and alums with residents to do good locally. It is organized by the University of Maryland, city of College Park and Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County.
Volunteers can choose from 30 concurrent, community-run projects that address sustainability, food insecurity, beautification, local history preservation and more.
“The opportunity to contribute directly through projects identified and led by community members means that we know our work matters and will make a difference,” said Tania D. Mitchell, UMD’s inaugural associate provost for community engagement.
Register to volunteer by 11:59 p.m. Oct. 21. Student service-learning hours are available for middle and high school students.
Maryland Today is produced by the Office of Marketing and Communications for the University of Maryland community on weekdays during the academic year, except for university holidays.
