The University of Maryland was named "Best Venue for Weddings” in the 2020 “Best Of” awards sponsored by marketing and membership organization Unique Venues.
The annual awards recognize the standout campuses, conference and business centers, sports arenas, historical and cultural venues, camps and retreat centers, and other special event venues that made a lasting impression on guests.
More than 20,000 planners who use the services provided by Unique Venues to connect with nontraditional spaces voted in a total of 22 categories.
The university was successful in the weddings category due to its variety of ceremony and reception venues at Memorial Chapel, the Adele H. Stamp Student Union-Center for Campus Life and the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center, along with its in-house catering operations.
UMD’s Conferences & Visitor Services department has notched 11 Best Of awards for the University in the past six years.
