UMD Community Invited to College Park Day

By Maryland Today Staff

Free activities, giveaways and live entertainment will all be part of the City of College Park’s signature event, College Park Day, scheduled from noon-6 p.m. Oct. 15 at the College Park Aviation Museum and Airport. The community celebration includes diverse groups from the University of Maryland.

Live entertainment on the main stage will host concerts from local bands including the Wild Anacostias, East River Band, Groovalicious and Monsoon Storm Band. This year will feature an even bigger kids’ and family area with a dedicated Family Stage with performances by Barry Louis Polisar, the Great Zucchini and more. There will also be performances by the School of Public Health gymnastics troupe Gymkana and the School of Music ensemble Terrapin Brass Quintet.

College Park Day will also offer unique eats from food vendors such as Taim Mediterranean Kitchen, Big D’s Wings, Kodi’s Grill, Mr. Magic, Taqueria Habanero, Bill’s Backyard BBQ, Amity Kitchen, Cocineros, Tatak Al Pinoy, Cake Lady Desserts and Turtle’s Tasty Treats. Beer will be provided by Denizens and Franklin’s breweries for adults.

Visitors can also enjoy free admission to the museum (1985 Corporal Frank Scott Drive), watch a helicopter and plane fly in and see demonstrations from Prince George’s County public safety crews. More than 70 community nonprofit, university, business and government agency exhibitors and craft vendors are expected.

This is a family-friendly event, but please keep pets at home. Find more information at collegeparkday.org.
