Traffic Pattern to Change at Campus Drive-Adelphi Road Intersection

By Maryland Today Staff

The contractor for the state’s light-rail Purple Line now under construction will change the traffic pattern at the Campus Drive and Adelphi Road intersection near the University of Maryland Global Campus beginning on or about Sept. 24 for approximately six months.

The following changes will be implemented:

  • No left turns will be allowed from Adelphi Road onto Campus Drive from either direction.
  • Westbound vehicles on Campus Drive will no longer be able to turn left onto Adelphi Road to go southbound.

Travelers approaching from the north should use the campus entrances at Paint Branch Drive, Stadium Drive or Baltimore Avenue (see map).

See the detour map for details. The traffic pattern will be different on days with home football games.

To find the most up-to-date road closures and detours, visit UMD’s Purple Line website for impacts on campus and the official Purple Line website for impacts beyond campus. If you have questions or issues while traveling around campus, including accessibility concerns, contact purpleline@umd.edu.

To subscribe to text alerts when the Purple Line contractor schedules a significant sidewalk or roadway closure, use your mobile phone to text the keyword “UMDPURPLE” (not case-sensitive) to 888777.
