Three Honorees to Be Recognized at Women of Influence Awards

By Maryland Today Staff

The President's Commission on Women’s Issues (PCWI) will virtually host its annual celebration of exceptional campus women, the Women of Influence Awards, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Established by the PCWI in 1977 as the Outstanding Woman of the Year Award, the ceremony annually recognizes female staff, faculty and students who have distinguished themselves by working with and for communities of women who are diverse in identity, discipline and other dimensions of difference.

Recipients demonstrate commitment to mentorship, work-life balance and community engagement, and they work to prevent sexual harassment and support social and political justice.

This year’s honorees are: Utsa Santhosh, a senior computer science major and undergraduate administrative assistant for the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing; Tami Lee, assistant director of fitness and wellness for RecWell; and Tracy Riggins, an associate professor in the Department of Psychology.

The event will be held via Zoom. Register in advance.
