Terrapin Tech, the university’s one-stop shop for IT support, tech purchasing, and device repairs, has moved from McKeldin Library to the ground floor of the Edward St. John Learning & Teaching Center (ESJ 0398).
Managed by the Division of Information Technology (DIT), Terrapin Tech will continue to support, educate and supply the UMD community with all things tech while pairing with other organizations located in the building: DIT’s Academic Technology and Innovation team, the Teaching and Learning Transformation Center, and the Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Terrapin Tech’s services include an education discount and computer recommendations tailored to coursework, made in collaboration with college advisors. Along with certified on-location diagnosis and computer repairs, the student-staffed organization provides a loaner device during warranty repairs for current students, staff, and faculty.
Terrapin Tech also offers walk-in and appointment-based assistance with issues related to DIT-supported operating systems, applications and services, as well as internet connectivity. Terrapin Tech staff can also provide support for data backups, data migration, virus removal and a wide range of other technical issues.
Fall 2022 hours, beginning Monday, Aug. 29, are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
