The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) has launched a new, fully online Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Security and Terrorism Studies, now open to students applying for the Fall 2021 semester.
The MPS program prepares students to examine the complex social, political, economic and psychological underpinnings of terrorism and other asymmetric security threats. The program focuses on the theoretical and methodological skills necessary to pursue advanced research opportunities, and to succeed in a professional role where analysis and critical thinking are paramount.
The MPS is appropriate for students interested in, or currently working in, fields related to intelligence analysis and national security, or conducting scholarly research on terrorism and security.
"We developed our program to focus on helping analysts, researchers and other professionals further develop their skill sets," START Graduate Studies Director Marcus Boyd said. "The MPS is designed to foster research and analytical skills, and meets the rigorous standards that are foundational to START."
Prospective students can apply through the University of Maryland’s Graduate School, with an application deadline of Aug. 3 for the Fall 2021 semester.
