Spring Football Game, Lacrosse Showdowns Scheduled on Maryland Day

By Maryland Today Staff

For the first time since 2011, the University of Maryland football team will host its annual Red-White Spring Game on Maryland Day.

The game at noon April 27 will kick off an action-packed day at Maryland Stadium that will also feature the nationally ranked men's and women's lacrosse teams hosting rival Johns Hopkins at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively.

"Maryland Day is always one of the most vibrant days on campus," said Maryland Athletic Director Damon Evans. "We're thrilled to give our community visiting campus three exciting opportunities to see our tremendous student-athletes."

Led by first-year Head Coach Michael Locksley, the football team on March 26 kicks off a series of 15 spring practices culminating in the Spring Game. The Terps return more than three-quarters of their offense from last season, including 1,000-yard running back Anthony McFarland Jr. On defense, Maryland welcomes back five starters, including three from a secondary that helped the Terps rank second in the Big Ten with 18 interceptions a year ago.
