Several Summer Road Closures on the Way

By Maryland Today Staff

As commencement ceremonies end, marking the end of the academic year, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Carlo Colella alerts drivers of summer road closures for construction of the state’s light-rail Purple Line though campus and several other projects underway at the university.

One of these closures will go into effect tomorrow; all of them are planned for when the campus is less populated:

  • Campus Drive will be closed from Paint Branch Drive to Regents Drive for Purple Line construction (beginning in mid- to late June).
  • Campus Drive will be closed from Regents Drive to Union Lane for Purple Line construction (beginning May 25).
  • Fieldhouse Drive will be closed in the area south of the Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center for utility construction (beginning June 15).
  • Stadium Drive between Paint Branch Drive and Engineering Drive is already closed for construction of Stanley R. Zupnik Hall and will remain closed during the summer and beyond.
  • Regents Drive Garage will be closed for repairs (beginning June 5). Transportation Services has directed employees who park in the garage to park in the closest faculty/staff overflow lot.

To find the most up-to-date road closures and detours, visit the university’s Purple Line website for impacts on campus and the official Purple Line website for impacts beyond campus.
