SEE to Host Atsuko Okatsuka for All Niter Comedy Show

By Maryland Today Staff

Student Entertainment Events (SEE) will welcome stand-up comedian, actor and writer Atsuko Okatsuka for its Spring Comedy Show, to be held as part of the Stamp’s annual All Niter event.

Okatsuka will take the stage in Stamp’s Baltimore Room at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 10. She will follow UMD Punchbowl Comedy after its 6 p.m. performance. Tickets are not required for the comedy show; seating is first come, first served.

Also included in the All Niter are a roller rink, cosmic bowling, T-shirt giveaway, karaoke, movies, tote bag decorating, games and more from 5 p.m. to midnight, all under the theme of “Candy Land.”

Okatsuka’s debut stand-up special, “The Intruder,” premiered in December on HBO, and she was named one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch.” She co-stars in the new Comedy Central animated series, “Fairview” and the Paramount+ feature film, “Washingtonia.” She was the special correspondent on “Arsenio! Live” for the “Netflix is a Joke” Festival and has written for Adult Swim’s “The Eric Andre Show” and “Soft Focus with Jena Friedman.”

Raised by her grandmother, Okatsuka incorporates her unique upbringing into an offbeat and resilient persona, embodied in her blunt bangs and bowl cut. Together, they created a viral TikTok trend called the #DropChallenge, a video seen more than 10 million times showing her squatting and looking at the camera to the Beyonce single “Partition.”
