U.S. Army Cadet Dan Morrison ’19 won the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement ROTC Award, which recognizes one ROTC student in each of eight brigades across the country. The award honors cadets for scholastic excellence in military and academic subjects.
UMD is part of the 4th ROTC Brigade, which includes colleges and universities in Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
“The competition was pretty stiff,” said Lt. Col. Larry Rentz, professor of military science. “His academic achievements, his leadership, his participation in ROTC, as well as in the campus community made him very competitive.”
Morrison was presented with the award on Thursday. He will begin his career as an armor officer, then move into military intelligence. “I’m absolutely honored and very humbled to have been chosen for this,” he said.
