Registration Opens for Spring 2027 Alternative Breaks Programs

What if your next break could change the way you see the world? What if it meant you could make a difference too?

Registration is open for 2027 programs with Alternative Breaks: weeklong service-learning immersion experiences during the University of Maryland's spring break that explore social, economic and environmental challenges in local, national and international communities.

Alongside long-term community partners, students develop as socially responsible leaders through direct service and action, education and critical reflection.

This academic year, the challenges will include food and housing insecurity, environmental conservation, employment for people with disabilities, and support for refugee communities.

Trips are open to any undergraduate or graduate student; interested students must commit to the full duration of the experience and any pre-trip meetings/post-trip service.

To learn more about the nine trips and sign up to be a part of the movement, visit stamp.umd.edu/AB. Registration closes on Jan. 17; scholarships are available.
