Proposals Sought for Research Resilience Grants

Applications are now being accepted for the third round of grant awards from the University of Maryland's Research Resilience Initiatives to support both faculty and the long-term sustainability of the institution’s research enterprise. 

In a September 25 letter to faculty, Senior Vice President and Provost Jennifer King Rice and Vice President for Research Patrick O’Shea said that across the first two rounds of the Preserve, Pivot, and Grow (PPG) and MPower Early Scholars Investment Fund programs, the university has committed nearly 9 million through 141 awards spanning a broad range of disciplines across campus. 

“Together, they have advanced our research and educational mission through new external funding, personnel retention, publications and conference presentations,” the email said. 

This fall, additional funding will be available through the PPG Program to preserve strategic institutional capabilities, support researchers and centers as they pivot their research portfolios, expand shared research infrastructure and instrumentation, and continue to grow the research enterprise.

Proposals are welcomed for the following PPG tracks, with all applications due Oct. 23, 2026: 

• Track A: Strategic Institutional Investments, including Center Pivot
• Track B: At-risk Individual Faculty Members and Lab Groups
• Track C: Research Infrastructure & Instrumentation
