By Maryland Today Staff

The Philip Merrill College of Journalism and the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism will hold an online panel discussion from 7–8 p.m. tomorrow about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sports world.

Moderated by longtime national sports columnist and Professor of the Practice Kevin Blackistone, the panel will delve into topics such as actions taken by professional and collegiate leagues, the decision to postpone this summer’s Tokyo Olympics, coronavirus’ impact on both athletes and fans, and how the sports media has been covering the pandemic.

The panelists will be:

  • Bonnie Bernstein ’92, a sports journalist who spent nearly two decades on-air with ESPN and CBS covering the NFL, NBA, MLB and college football and basketball
  • Frank Isola ’90, a sportswriter who appears regularly on ESPN’s “Around the Horn” and “PTI” and hosts a morning show on SiriusXM NBA Radio
  • Daniel Oyefusi ’19, a sports reporter at The Baltimore Sun covering the Baltimore Ravens and Maryland basketball
  • Jimmy Roberts ’79, a sportscaster for NBC and the Golf Channel.

The conference will take place on Zoom, and registrants will receive a link to join tomorrow. Space is limited. RSVP here by noon tomorrow.
