In-Person Study Abroad Won’t Resume for Summer 2021

By Maryland Today Staff

Ross Lewin, associate vice president for international affairs, made the following announcement this afternoon:

I regret to inform you that we have made the decision not to reopen in-person study abroad for Summer 2021. This difficult decision was made in coordination with the university’s International Risk Management Committee and the Office of the Provost on the basis of the continued global presence of COVID-19. We are currently making every effort to resume in-person programming for Fall 2021. We will keep the community informed as plans progress.

Understanding the ever-growing need to prepare students to become successful and impactful global professionals and citizens, the Office of International Affairs has continued to collaborate with academic departments and programs across the University of Maryland to develop engaging, project-based, virtual global learning opportunities.

We welcome you to engage with these opportunities at go.umd.edu/stayglobalumd.
