The University of Maryland will welcome thousands of alums, fans and other guests to campus as the Terps host Northern Illinois for a Friday night game at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5.
The campus will remain open for instruction and operations that day. Guidance about optional virtual or hybrid instruction has been issued to faculty and instructors; students will hear from them directly.
Certain parking lots will be prepared for game parking beginning at 2 p.m. Alternative parking will be available for those who use these affected lots and wish to remain on campus. Please plan ahead and consult the comprehensive parking information provided by UMD’s Department of Transportation Services. Contact DOTS directly if you have a special event and need accommodations.
Traffic is expected to increase in the late afternoon as fans arrive, so telework-eligible employees can consider speaking with their supervisor about requesting a telework day or schedule adjustment. They may also request the use of annual or personal leave for part or all of the afternoon. Anyone who wants to request one of these options should speak with their supervisor as soon as possible. These requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
