University of Maryland students can now update their gender marker in Testudo to include a nonbinary option, the Office of the Registrar announced.
All registered students can log in to Testudo to view their current gender marker and make an update on their “My Profile” page. Gender markers do not appear on ID cards, class rosters or transcripts, but can be seen by university employees in various databases and/or reports.
The university started including nonbinary designations in its demographics reports in the Fall 2023 term.
“As the university moves toward a new student information system, we look forward to continuing to expand additional demographic options for our students,” Registrar Adrian R. Cornelius wrote in an email to students on Thursday.
Students seeking to learn more about the opportunity to change their gender marker can find details in the FAQs.
