A new University of Maryland app for students, faculty and staff, and visitors offers an all-in-one consolidating a range of services and resources in one virtual location.
Users can choose their affiliation with the university, tailoring the app’s experience to suit their needs. COVID-19 information, the daily symptom check, campus alerts, maps, the university directory, the course catalog, bus routes and more are all accessible through the app. Users can also sign up for push notifications for campus updates.
The Division of Information Technology has been collaborating with the Student Government Association, the Graduate Student Government and the Office of Strategic Communications over the past year to develop the app. It is available through the Apple Store and Google Play.
Marcio Oliveira, assistant vice president of academic technology and innovation, noted that especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many people affiliated with the institution are not coming to the physical campus, a streamlined method of communication and making resources available is critical.
“The goal is to put the campus in the (users’) pocket and make sure people have a very quick, efficient way to connect with campus,” said Oliveira.
Maryland Today is produced by the Office of Marketing and Communications for the University of Maryland community on weekdays during the academic year, except for university holidays.
