The University of Maryland Child Development Center opened to families this morning, providing a convenient new option for the university and local community, UMD Vice President for Administration and Finance Carlo Colella announced.
With a focus on industry-leading health and safety protocols, the center, located at 4601 Calvert Road, provides early education and care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.
A partnership between the university and the child-care provider Bright Horizons, the center offers programs designed with working parents in mind, a research-based curriculum that meets children where they are developmentally, and professional teachers who foster the joy of early learning.
Enhanced COVID-19 protocols in use at the center were developed in partnership with a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Boston Children’s Hospital; they align with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations, as well as state and local requirements.
