Meet the Finalists for Director of the Nyumburu Cultural Center

Stephanie H. Chang, interim vice president for belonging, sent the following message to the campus community on Friday:

Belonging & Community at UMD is hiring a new director for the Nyumburu Cultural Center and invites you to meet the finalists for the position. 

The Nyumburu Cultural Center has served the UMD community since 1971, promoting an understanding of and appreciation for African American culture in all of its richness and complexity. The director of the Nyumburu Cultural Center is responsible for overall strategic leadership and vision, operations, financial stewardship, programming, assessment, and ongoing campus community and external outreach of the Nyumburu Cultural Center, including staff supervision and facility oversight. The director serves as a spokesperson for the center, manages the center’s fiscal resources and advances fundraising efforts. This position is supervised by the assistant vice president for belonging.

All UMD community members are welcome to attend these presentations, as campus input is an essential piece of the search process. Finalists will give a 30-minute presentation, followed by 20 minutes for answering audience questions. We will share an anonymous evaluation form with attendees at each presentation.
