John Mulaney Returns for SEE’s Annual Homecoming Comedy Show

By Maryland Today Staff

Actor and comedian John Mulaney will headline SEE’s annual Homecoming Comedy Show at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Xfinity Center.

Tickets are required and available for purchase at umterps.com/tickets starting at noon Aug. 30. UMD community tickets cost $20, Terrapin Club member tickets are $35, and general public tickets are $60. Only one ticket can be purchased per UMD ID. Up to two tickets can be purchased for those in the Terrapin Club and the general public.

Mulaney, who started his career as an office assistant at Comedy Central, is now a comedic powerhouse. Arriving in the “Saturday Night Live” writer’s room in 2008, he helped create iconic characters such as Stefon. Mulaney also built a reputation as a standout stand-up, releasing seven TV specials between 2009 and 2023. From 2015 to 2022, Mulaney wrote critically acclaimed episodes on the mockumentary series “Documentary Now!,” and in May, Mulaney hosted the talk show “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” which aired on Netflix.

He’s earned Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special—first for his stand-up tour “Kid Gorgeous” in 2018 and again for “John Mulaney: Baby J” in 2023.

Mulaney also headlined the 2019 SEE (Student Entertainment Events) Homecoming Comedy Show. Sponsors for this show by SEE, the University of Maryland’s student programming board, are UMD Homecoming 2024 and Maryland Athletics. Lineup starts at 5:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 and close at 7:30 p.m.
