Insect Biodiversity Art Exhibit Seeks Submissions

“Another Look, Another World,” an interdisciplinary exhibition exploring how visual art can deepen our understanding of Maryland’s insect biodiversity and inspire greater appreciation for the ecological role of insects, is accepting submissions through Oct. 2. 

The exhibition, part of UMD’s Arts for All initiative, will highlight six Maryland insect species that are on Maryland’s List of Rare, Threatened, and Endangered Animals. Original works will be displayed alongside science-based information about insects’ ecological roles, insect habitats and key conservation actions. 

The exhibition will be on view Oct. 14-Nov. 6 in the Herman Maril Gallery in the Parren J. Mitchell Art-Sociology Building.

University of Maryland students, faculty and staff, and community members are all invited to submit artwork inspired by these insects. An Intent to Submit form is available on the exhibition’s website.
