Good Neighbor Day Expands to Celebrate 10th Anniversary

By Golshan Jalali

Registration is now open for a supersized 10th annual Good Neighbor Day, a community-wide day of service in Greater College Park to be held on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Good Neighbor Day, a partnership between the University of Maryland, the City of College Park and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, will offer a combination of physically distanced, in-person beautification service projects and virtual workshops.

The Good Neighbor Day Food Drive also returns to support neighbors in need. For the first time, it will feature a Fill-a-Bus Food Drive, in partnership with the Department of Transportation Services, on Friday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. outside the Stamp Student Union.

In addition, IKEA in College Park will serve as a drive-up food donation drop-off location on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Clear, canned and boxed nonperishable food and drink items will be accepted, but glass, expired, dented, open or broken containers will not. Monetary donations are also welcome and can be sent to the UMD Campus Pantry or College Park Community Food Bank.

Maryland Today is produced by the Office of Marketing and Communications for the University of Maryland community on weekdays during the academic year, except for university holidays.
