Free Masks to Be Distributed to Students on Campus Three Ways

By Maryland Today Staff

The University of Maryland is giving away two free face coverings to students as part of its efforts “4 Maryland” to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

On Sept. 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., students can pick up masks from tents outside of three locations: the Physical Sciences Complex, Tawes Plaza and Xfinity Center.

From Sept. 16 to 25, students who have not already done so can get masks from the welcome desk at the Visitor Center in Turner Hall, the Stamp Student Union information desk and the Eppley Recreation Center’s membership services desk during their business hours.

Students living in the following off-campus apartment buildings can present their UIDs to their front desk to collect two TerrapinSTRONG masks: the Varsity, University Club, Terrapin Row, Domain College Park, Landmark, Alloy by Alta, University View, the Enclave, Mazza Grandmarc, Graduate Hills and Gardens, and Parkside at College Park.

For the on-campus pickup options, students received an email on Sept. 7 that included a barcode to claim their masks. Students can pick up masks on behalf of others if they bring the unique barcode email for each individual.

Students living in residence halls received their masks during move-in.

Face coverings play a critical role in UMD’s efforts to keep students, faculty and staff safe from COVID-19. This semester, anyone on campus will be required to wear a face covering at all times indoors, and outdoors when others are nearby.
