DOTS Shares Thanksgiving Break Travel, Bus and Parking Plans

By Maryland Today Staff

As the campus community gears up for Thanksgiving break next week, the University of Maryland’s Department of Transportation Services (DOTS) is offering guidance on how students can prepare for travel and parking on campus.

Registration closes today for shuttle buses to three locations in New Jersey and New York City. The buses depart from campus on Nov. 23 and return on Nov. 28.

Students can use Shuttle-UM routes and public transit to reach Baltimore-Washington/Thurgood Marshall International Airport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Dulles International Airport. Guidance for how to do so is available through DOTS.

Shuttle-UM routes will run on modified schedules from Nov. 24-28, and Shuttle-UM will be closed on Thursday and Saturday. More detailed information is on the DOTS website.

Over the break, several numbered parking lots on campus will be open to vehicles with or without a registered license plate: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 15, 16, 17 and 19. Resident students who want to bring a car to campus after break through the end of the semester can do so by purchasing a “Breaksgiving Permit.”
