DOTS “Pool Party” Seeks to Create New Rideshares

By Maryland Today Staff

Take a dip this semester with the Department of Transportation Services, which is hosting a series called “Pool Party” to encourage car- and vanpool matching among UMD employees.

Guests who connect with colleagues with a similar commute and form a vanpool or carpool at the event will receive exclusive incentives and prizes. A catered lunch will be provided.

All registered vanpools receive a 50 percent discount for the first six months, and new vanpools will receive the first month free. Drivers and vanpool coordinators will receive the first two months free.

All registered carpools receive 50 percent off on their carpool permit. New carpools that form at the Pool Party will receive two bundle packs of parking passes for each carpooler. Existing carpool permit holders can receive an additional bundle pack by adding a third person to their pool.

The next Pool Party will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 14 in Adele’s Room at The Stamp. To attend, RSVP here. Raffle drawings will be held for all those who attend. The final one of the semester will run from noon to 1 p.m. March 28 at Mulligan’s.
