The University of Maryland Police Department is collecting new school supplies for nearby Paint Branch Elementary School through Aug. 10.
Items that are needed include backpacks, composition books, index cards, crayons, erasers, dry-erase markers, headphones, pocket folders with three hole punches, glue sticks, highlighters, colored markers and pencils, pencils, rulers, blunt scissors and pencil boxes.
Classroom staples including paper towels, one-gallon and sandwich zip-lock bags, boxes of tissues and liquid hand soap are also welcome.
UMD is also seeking donations of new school uniform attire for Paint Branch’s students: white polo shirts and navy blue pants. All sizes are appreciated, but the school particularly needs uniforms that fit the youngest students, ages 4 to 7.
Donations can be dropped off at the Pocomoke Building via the service window, or UMPD Cpl. Melissa Fischer and Teddy the comfort dog can pick items up from any campus location.
