COVID Testing Urged Before Winter Break

By Maryland Today Staff

Dr. Sacared Bodison, University Health Center interim director, sent the following email to the campus community this afternoon:

Testing remains a critical component of COVID-19 mitigation. As a reminder, we recommend that everyone on campus get tested for COVID-19 before winter break begins. Testing is widely available in the Grand Ballroom of the Stamp Student Union, in safe and physically distant ways, over the next two weeks.

We continue to improve the testing process for our community. You can make a testing appointment at return.umd.edu. Click on "COVID-19 TESTING" and then on "Make a Testing Appointment" to make an appointment through the University Health Center's (UHC) portal. Appointment times continue to be added as needed and results are reported through the UHC portal. You will receive an email when your results are ready. If you test positive, a UHC provider will call you directly.

This week, testing events will be offered tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 8, and Thursday, Dec. 10. Next week, testing events will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 15 and Thursday, Dec. 17. A significant number of appointments are still available for these remaining testing days. Additional appointments or testing days will be added as needed. See COVID-19 Testing Information for availability for all December testing days.

No testing events will be held the week of Dec. 21. Campus-wide testing events will resume the week of Jan. 11, 2021. However, limited testing for staff physically returning to work on Jan. 4, as well as researchers and research-related personnel will be available on Jan. 5 and 7. These appointments will be available by Dec. 14 at return.umd.edu.

As a reminder, anyone who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or has knowingly been exposed to a positive case of COVID-19 can be tested at the University Health Center at any time. Please check the hours at health.umd.edu. For questions, contact the HEAL Line at 301.405.4325 (HEAL) or email healthconcerns@umd.edu.

Stay healthy and finish strong 4 Maryland!
