CARE Launches Blanket Drive for Survivors of Sexual Violence at Adventist HealthCare

By Maryland Today Staff

Campus Advocates Respond & Educate (CARE) to Stop Violence is collecting new blankets and restaurant gift cards through April 16 for survivors of sexual and relationship violence utilizing Adventist HealthCare.

When survivors access forensic medical services, the comfort of a new blanket or the gift of a free meal can make an uncomfortable and scary experience a little easier. CARE has partnered with the University of Maryland Police Department and Student Government Association (SGA) on this effort.

New blankets can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • The CARE office on the ground floor of the University Health Center;
  • The SGA office in the Stamp Student Union;
  • The side lobby of Memorial Chapel;
  • The Harriet Tubman Department of Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies, Suite 3121 in Susquehanna Hall;
  • The dean’s suite of the School of Public Health.

These items will be donated to both children and adults experiencing crises.

CARE is also collecting $10 gift cards to restaurants such as Chipotle or McDonald’s. Gift cards can be dropped off at the CARE office front desk.

Questions can be directed to uhc-care@umd.edu.
