By Maryland Today Staff

The University of Maryland has promoted a 15-year leader in the Alumni Association to oversee the organization as senior executive director.

Jessica Roberts '02 will take her new position on July 14 following a highly competitive national search.

She brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished record of strategic leadership to the role. Since joining the Alumni Association in January 2008, she has held various key positions, most recently chief of staff and managing director of board operations. Her tenure is marked by significant achievements that have strengthened the association and enhanced alums’ engagement.

"Jessica is a proven leader with over 20 years of institutional knowledge,” said Vice President for University Relations Jim Harris. “We are extremely fortunate to have her expertise joining our senior leadership team as our chief alumni officer."

Roberts earned a B.A. in communication from UMD and an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus. She is a longstanding member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, the American Society of Association Executives and the Association of Governing Boards

"Being named the senior executive director is an absolute dream come true for me,” she said. “Maryland has given me everything; my education, my husband, friendships, memories and the last 15 years of my career. Being able to give back to my alma mater in this way is incredible. I am here to help amplify the impact Terps are making across the globe, double our engagement with alums and influence alums globally to do one thing for their alma mater every year. We are all in this together with a collective responsibility to contribute actively to the university's ongoing success and legacy.”
