Student Entertainment Events (SEE) at the University of Maryland will welcome “Silicon Valley” and “Space Force” actor and stand-up comic Jimmy O. Yang as the 2021 Homecoming Comedy Show’s featured act.
The event, at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at Ritchie Coliseum, is open to the UMD community and the general public. Student tickets are $5, and general admission tickets are $25; they can be purchased at umdtickets.com from Sept. 27 through noon Oct. 28.
Born in Hong Kong, Yang moved to Los Angeles when he was 13, where he eventually made his television debut on the CBS series “2 Broke Girls” and his first late-night stand-up appearance on “The Arsenio Hall Show.” He’s the author of the memoir “How to American: An Immigrant’s Guide to Disappointing Your Parents,” and his first hour-long comedy special, “Good Deal,” which pulls stories from the book, is streaming on Amazon Prime.
Yang co-starred on HBO’s Emmy-nominated series “Silicon Valley,” appeared in the 2017 movie “Patriots Day” and was part of the ensemble cast of the 2018 hit romantic comedy, “Crazy Rich Asians.” He co-stars in and writes for Netflix's half-hour series “Space Force” opposite Steve Carrell and John Malkovich. Next, he will star in the rom-com “Love Hard” and the comedy “Me Time,” both on Netflix.
