The Office of Special Events sent the following email to all students who graduated in August 2026 or who are expected to graduate in December 2026 or May 2027:
We are excited to celebrate you and your accomplishments at the University of Maryland’s 2027 commencement in May. As you prepare to celebrate with your friends, families and supporters, we want to share important information about this year’s main commencement ceremony schedule.
The main commencement ceremony will take place on May 24, 2027, at 9 a.m. at SECU Stadium, with a weather contingency time of 7 p.m.
If severe weather prevents the ceremony from taking place at 9 a.m., the ceremony will move to 7 p.m. the same day.
Please plan for either possibility and share both times with your guests. The university will communicate any decision to move to the contingency time as soon as possible through commencement.umd.edu and official university communications channels.
We know how meaningful this day is, and we are looking forward to celebrating this milestone with you and the people who have supported you throughout your time at Maryland.
