(Photo by John T. Consoli)* The tents are up. The tables are out. And the colorful signs are set. Hang on to your hats (in the Glenn L. Martin Wind Tunnel) as the University of Maryland welcomes tens of thousands of visitors Saturday for its annual community open house. Among more than 400 free events at[ Maryland Day](https://marylandday.umd.edu/), guests can experience Broadway’s best show tunes, performed by students in UMD’s Musical Theatre Workshop. Or hearken back to the event’s Ag Day roots at the Maryland Equestrian Club’s horse show, followed by a sweet scoop of ice cream from the Maryland Dairy. There’s plenty more for families, alums, prospective students and community members to explore on every inch of campus. Join the women’s and men’s soccer teams, the latter of which is coming off an undefeated regular season, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on McKeldin Mall’s main stage. Then stop at Terpsville Fan Fest—featuring yard games, inflatables, face painting and more on Jones-Hill House’s indoor field—to snap a pic and get a signed poster with the women’s and men’s basketball teams from 11 a.m.-noon. Finally, after the football team’s spring drills showcase at SECU Stadium, meet the student-athletes back at Jones-Hill House until 4 p.m. **Celebrate the USA at UMD** A slew of events will honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence by exploring democracy, civic engagement and history. Visit the nonpartisan[ Terps Vote](https://terpsvote.umd.edu/) table from 1-4 p.m. on Hornbake Plaza to win prizes in voting trivia and make a plan to vote before the primary in June. All day on McKeldin Mall, contribute to a community art project, sponsored by Arts for All and led by D.C.-based artist Imar Hutchins, to create a shared visual work about Frederick Douglass. Even George Washington and Abraham Lincoln from the Nationals’ racing presidents crew will stop by (for a photo op, not a run) from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the mall. **Pop-Up Muppets Merch** As a follow-up to the “[Kermencement](https://today.umd.edu/kermit-the-frog-challenges-graduates-to-write-your-own-ending)” hype from last spring, guests can hop to an all-day pop-up shop on McKeldin Mall and check out the latest additions to the[ Muppets-UMD spirit wear collection](https://umcp.spirit.bncollege.com/maryland-terrapins/maryland-muppet-collection/t-12755801+c-9028746276+z-90-454831874). (Photo by Dylan Singleton)* **Touch a Truck—and a New Electric Bus** UMD is gearing up for nearly 60% of its Shuttle-UM fleet to be diesel-free by Fall 2027, and visitors can get up close and personal with one of the[ university’s first electric buses](https://today.umd.edu/charging-up-a-new-fleet) from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in Lot 11. Other vehicles used in transportation, construction and emergency services will also be parked and ready to climb aboard and explore. **Plinko for Puzzles** Drop a puck for your chance to pluck one of this year’s exclusive giveaways, a Maryland Day puzzle.
